Magnetic hill on our way to Leh

Kashmir – Ladakh Trip Day 7 (Magnetic Hill)

Next day, we started from Kargil in a shared Xylo taxi at 8:00 am and reached Leh at 4pm. Charges – Rs. 800 per person. For around 5 hours we were the only couple during the journey. Had a great time during the journey, singing songs, stopping for sightseeing, etc. Our driver, Nurboo was excellent. He was driving safely and also happily showed us the tourist points on the way-Magnetic hill is a place where the layout of the surrounding land produces the optical illusion that a very slight downhill slope appears to be an uphill slope. Thus, a car left out of gear will appear to be rolling uphill due to gravity, Confluence of the Zanskar river and the Indus, etc. After reaching Leh, we stayed at Hotel Mogol on Changspa road, one of the best place to stay in Leh. Nice hotel, bargained the room for Rs. 1000 per night.
