Our last day in Wai was going to end with a trip to Sajjangad Fort in Satara city of Maharashtra. We wanted to visit Kaas Plateau which is only 20 km from Sajjangad Fort but since flowering season was over, we decided against it. Sajjangad means Fort of Good People is the final resting place of Swami Ramdas, a saint and social reformer in 17th century India. Sajjangad Fort is a more of a place of pilgrimage than a fort. The route to Sajjangad Fort is nice and scenic.
We climbed around 100 steps to reach the fort entrance. Once inside, you can have a breathtaking view of the surroundings. One can visit temples of Lord Rama, Lord Hanuman, and Lord Shiva inside the fort. Even though it was Monday, we saw many people visiting the fort and paying their respects at Swami Ramdas Samadhi. We then headed for Mumbai. Took a halt at Kailash Bhel outlet, had high expectations but sadly found it to be overhyped. Nothing special about the bhel similar to our Mumbai bhel.
Next Post: Day Trip to Elephanta Caves or Gharapuri Caves, Mumbai.
