We woke up early and reached Kargil bus stand at 6 am to book a shared taxi to Srinagar. But it was our lucky day, we met 2 kind hearted Sardarjis, Dr. P. P. S. Pannu and his friend were Sr. Plant Pathologist from Punjab Agriculture University, Ludhiana. They were in Kargil to study crop patterns but decided to leave since it was raining in Kargil. They offered us to accompany them to Srinagar as there was no taxi available for Srinagar in the morning. We readily agreed as it was a blessing for us. We requested them to stop at Kargil War Memorial, Drass Sector in Kashmir region, as luck would have had it, they too were thinking of a stop at the memorial. The visit to the memorial brought back memories of our brave soldiers who given their lives for the security of our motherland. We remembered and paid our respects to our Heroes. At Zojila pass, it started drizzling and we encountered heavy fog. We clicked few pictures and were on our way towards Srinagar. We reached Srinagar at 3 pm and checked in at hotel Hamburg, recollect the best guesthouse. We had dinner at Streams Restaurant, one of the best places to eat in Srinagar.
