Palolem beach: Palolem beach is a natural bay surrounded by lofty headlands on either sides, resulting in a calm, idyllic sea with a gently sloping bed which allows you to walk up to 100 m out from the beach. The beach is largely unspoiled and is inhabited by both local fishermen and by foreign tourists who live in shacks along the shore or in the main village itself. It is about 1.61 km long and is crescent-shaped – one can view the whole beach from either end. Both ends of the beach consist of rocks jutting out into the sea. The depth of the sea increases gradually, it being shallowest at the northern ends of the beach, making it safe for average swimmers, and the currents are not fast.

Places of Tourist Attraction Near Agonda Beach Goa:

Cabo De Rama Fort: This is one of the oldest forts in Goa, built before the arrival of the Portuguese. With the historic significance related with its name, Cabo De Rama has a mythological legend. Lord Rama accompanied by his wife Sita took refuge here during his exile from Ayodhya for 14 years. Inside the Cabo De Rama Fort, there is the church of Santo Antonio which is in excellent condition and is still used by devotees. The white church and the black fort provide a photographic picture of stark contrast.

People come here to pray and just enjoy the mystical atmosphere of the fort. Cliffs drop steeply to the sea provide a panoramic outlook of the surrounding areas, at the western side of the fortress. The fort provides majestic views of the entire length of Colva beach and the Canacona stretch.

Agonda beach: Agonda beach is a great spot for sunbathing, relaxing and swimming, with still relatively few tourists. Agonda is a nice long pristine stretch of beach. Though the waters here might not be the most ideal place for swimming (you have better beaches with calm waters in Goa), Agonda is definitely a place for those who want to quit on a Monday morning.

Butterfly beach: It is a tiny beach cove that lies just to the north of Palolem beach. The sands here are perfectly white and the water translucent. There is no access to the beach by road since the area is heavily forested. One can take a 2 hour trek through the forest. No vehicles, not even bikes can make the trip through the forest since the road takes one through brooks, steep climbs, fields and forested areas.

Kola or Cola Beach: A secluded, unspoily beach for those seeking peace. Khola or Cola beach is for those who want privacy and relaxation. It’s on the way to Cabo de Rama fort. The beach is actually three small bays, separated by large rocks. The middle beach covers a lagoon that stretches back into the jungle. When you walk down the stairs you’ll walk straight into the ‘Blue Lagoon’, the only option for eating and drinking on Cola beach.

Restaurants:

Magic Italy: Palolem Beach Road, on the left as you approach the beach. The best pizzas in Palolem, and possibly Goa. Try their Four Cheese or Spinach pizzas. Cosy, with a selection of tables or cushions on the floor.

Bhakti Kutir Restaurant: Located inside a tranquil ashram and just 200 metres from the Palolem beach, this one is sure to make your soul and tummy equally contented. The food prepared here, mainly vegetarian, is cooked keeping the principles of yoga and ayurveda in mind. If you decide to sit down for a meal here, you can soak in the community environment and a friendly, warm atmosphere.

D’Costa Bar & Restaurant: Towards the right once you enter the beach from the parking area. This is a run of the mill place and you won’t notice anything to make it stand out from the other beach shacks, but the service is great and food good value for money, you can spend the whole day here and use the beach beds if you have food here, the staff is very courteous to Indian and Foreign patrons alike. Good value for money, pizza’s are really good.

Cafe Inn: On the main road junction, near the bus stop. Known for its freshly ground coffee from an Italian espresso machine. Recommended for breakfasts, for the variety of special sandwiches and wraps, large variety of mezethes, cakes and pastries. Top Choice at the ‘South India & Kerala’ Lonely Planet.

Drupadi: Near centre light (near the main entrance to the beach). Probably the most popular restaurant in Palolem. Serves a good variety of food and the service here is great with friendly waiter who are willing to go the extra mile to serve you.
